Damocles sat blindfolded and cuffed to the chair as Rennala left. This was his time to escape, but he was hesitent to because he knew what she'd do if she saw him misbehaving. He weighed up his options and it was looking pretty grim. He could either escape and have her release everything, or he could stay and do as she says. He didn't want to be her pet or whatever it was that she was saying, but still he was scared.
He tried pulling his hands from the chair, but the cuffs kept him stuck behind the bars of the backrest. Nothing he did seemed to get him free, so he tried feeling around the cuffs. He couldn't find a way to release them without the key, he was stuck to the chair.
In frustrated he kicked his feet and found that while they were cuffed together, his feet weren't attached to the chair. He lifted his legs up onto the seat, bringing his knees right up to his face. He could push the sock blindfold by rubbing his face against his knees, but he hesitated. If he did this, he was committed to escaping.
