That river in Egypt

Rennala had just left Damocles cuffed to the chair at the table and was walking down the path in her front yard towards the gate. As she walked out onto the street, she checked her phone, which was in a video call with her laptop back at the house. She kept her microphone and camera off, so Damocles couldn't see her but she could see him. She was glad to see that he was just sitting in place. She walked down the road towards the shops.

At the supermarket, she browsed the aisles looking for what she needed. She grabbed a new toothbrush, Q-tips, a plastic syringe (no needle), baby wipes, a few extra rolls of tape, a generous amount of rope, a bag of rubber bands, superglue, a spare pair of oven mitts, a belt, some small wooden blocks, a dog bowl, a cushion, and some plain chocolate for herself. It appeared to be a random selection of items, but the cashier didn't care. She swiped Damocles' bank card through the machine and the payment went through. She very much enjoyed the thought it was working, and that she could buy whatever she wanted with it. But still, she was sticking with things that she needed to take care of him with at the moment. The cashier bagged her stuff up, and she made her way to Damocles' old house.
