The mansion began to take it toll on the boys inside. The relic can drive you mad with it's power, and in this case it expanded the mansion into a warzone. The floor fell out from under them as the men rose from the grave to fight again. They were clearly from the civil war, brothers brought back to kill again.
The corruption struck hard into Aj, and he not only fought in this war but took sides against his friends. He willingly embraced the power of chaos and summoned a metal coffin and some guns. He hid and shot at the guys. They screamed in terror and confusion, and the bullets weren't calming them down during the war.
They would have died had it not been for the admiral. He jumped in to save them when they needed it most, and he got a pretty nasty scar. This is when Aj couldn't handle it. Power corrupted him and his coffin ended up fitting it's use. His entrails were the only part of him seen again because no one ever got into the damned coffin. This is when the bombs and guns stopped firing.
The traitor lies dead in his sins.
Afterward, the mansion was back to normal, or however normal it could be with the dead body and the admiral being alive outside of the war illusion.
