Doors and More Doors
Cheejun nods and looks into your eyes. "Look, I get it. You've had enough," he says smoothly, at last. He sounds definite. "I get it more than anybody else. I got a family at home." Tears fill his eyes. "Two little boys. One of 'em just started talking." Cheejun rises. You stand. He outreaches his hand for a handshake. "I'm not even gonna pretend like I know what happened here," he says. "Not even pretend." And then you shake his hand. His grip is firm and he is stern. At once, he pats dirt off himself and pops his knuckles.
Then, he walks in the direction of the city. You don't feel the need to follow him, though. You're ok with this. Cheejun looks back, but tries to make it seem like he doesn't. His eyes lock with yours and he knows now that you'll be fine. You don't need him. He saved your life with no advantage to himself. There was no reason for him to do it. He jeopardized his position. But, maybe it was worth it to save the great Amiri Drake. Oh wait that's right... you're just some person. You're no Amiri Drake.
He disappears into the city. You have no idea how to get out of here, so you make your way to any airport, asking Singaporeans where to go. They help you with whatever you need. You eventually make it to the airport, thanks to an abandoned bike you find. Once there, you hope to still have money in your bank account to make it back home. This is your escape. It's been a weird adventure, being stuck in a room with doors to being shrunken down by eggs into the quantum realm, but you managed to navigate it all and survive.
Before going into the airport, you look back at the city of Singapore. There is nothing more for you there. Why did the portal choose to bring you here? It doesn't make any sense, but you're content with it all.
