The Pirate's Fate: The Expanded Universe
Cursed Cow Consumption
By: Drakin
Though Mila was curious where Morgana was going, the new pastry queen was also curious what happened to Tam-Tam. “Can I see where Tam-Tam is, please?”
The image of Morgana dissolved and reformed in another location. For a long moment Mila wasn't sure what she was looking at, but gradually it dawned on her it was like a large stable, mostly empty at present, but the nearest bay to the image was filled with something big it was overflowing the sides and squeezing through the bars in the front. A mass of brown with a big pink udder and a pair of nipples that had to be as wide as she was tall (or, rather, as tall as she had been before her change).
Tam-Tam was a total blob of a bovine at this point. No sign of limbs could be seen anywhere. Even her head was hard to make out wedged in a valley between cheeks the diameter of cart wheels. She was sucking on on a large hose that lead up to a series of hooks that carried it back to a machine in the far corner. In the opposite direction another machine drew milk from hoses attached to her massive udder and nipples, but though she seemed to be gushing at incredible speeds none of her milk sacks appeared to be deflating at all. In fact Mila was almost sure they were getting bigger.
“She's far gone it seems,” Spritz noted, “The curse of gluttony is upon her. It's what happened to the Duke who owned this house. She'll consume and consume until nothing can satisfy her.”
“What do you mean?” Mila asked, worried for her companion.
“Right now she's growing, but her hunger is growing faster than her body. When it surpasses how much she's physical able to consume her growth will slow and then reverse. she'll begin to wither, fat stores converted to the tons of energy she thinks she needs as her stomach collapses into a true bottomless pit. And then nothing will sustain her. She'll end up swallowing herself into nothingness at that point.”
“Can nothing be done?” Mila was a little frantic, hoping that it might somehow be prevented.
“Even if you could somehow prevent her eventual collapse she's consuming more calories per second now than there are beings in the world. If you returned her metabolism to normal she'd outgrow a mountain in a matter of minutes.”
“But there must be something...”
“The Duke's own ascent and decline was much slower, admittedly. It took him years to reach the point of no return. He had skilled mages, alchemists, and scientists looking for an answer, but if they ever found anything it came too late to save him. It's not impossible there's a way, but it would be somewhere in their labs. And without a clear understanding of their work there's no way to be sure what might do the trick.”
“What about the coin we were looking for?” Mila supposed, “The one under the cookie jar. Maybe we could use that to transform her into some other shape that would break the curse. Even if not it might buy some time to find a better answer.
“Or maybe we could find that Rune of Gluttony and smash it before the curse goes too far.” Even as she said it though Mila worried about it. Smashing the rune might save Tam-Tam, but Darious had said the runs were meant to gather the sins of the world. And there was a ritual to banish them all at once. Smashing it could destroy the curse but it might also release the sin of gluttony to spread across the planet.
Choice 1: Go to the labs, see if anything the scientists/alchemists/mages developed can be found to fix Tam-Tam.
Choice 2: Get the coin. Use it on Tam-Tam and change her again. Maybe it'll break the curse. Or at least delay it.
Choice 3: Find the rune and smash it. But it might release the power of the sin of Gluttony across the planet.
Choice 4: Too tough a decision. Find Darious and ask for his help making a choice.
