Kamp Kuma

I shoved a couple more tissues in my pockets as I tossed the bloody tissue into a small bin. It landed outside the bin. I sighed as I bent down to pick it up. I dropped it into the bin, but when I went to stand up I smacked my head on the bedside table and ended up knocking it over.

“Wow, you really are a hazard.” Doro mused.

“Yeah…” I muttered, pushing myself up and rubbing the back of my head.

I pushed the table back up and set the tissue box back down. I ran my hand along the top of the table but quickly withdrew my hand, wincing. Splinters. I stared at my hand in disbelief before sighing and shoving my hand into my pocket.

“You’re not gonna get the splinters out?”

“There’s no point.” I muttered, moving to walk outside the cabin.

“There is a point. That’s why they’re stuck in your hand.” Doro said as he stepped aside to let me pass.

I shook my head with an amused smile, at least he was trying to make me feel better. I stubbed my toe pretty badly on my way out. I swore under my breath and limped slightly. After recovering, I looked around at my surroundings, it was a really pretty camp. I wasn't watching him, as I was distracted looking around, but I heard him struggling to close the door. After he managed to do that, he breezed past me, swinging a small bag back and forth while he said,”I’m gonna go eat. You can stay here if you really want.”

I snapped out of my daze and scampered after him, stumbling over a branch. I was curious about what was in the bag, as I hadn’t seen him holding it until now, so I asked,”What’s the bag for?”

Doro glanced back at me with a growing smile as he stopped walking,”Well, as I am everyone’s Ultimate Friend, it’s my duty to bring our roommates important things they left behind.”

“Why are you phrasing your Ultimate like tha-” I started to ask before he cut me off.

“For instance,” He pulled out a wallet that was heavily duct taped. “Your wallet.”

I stared at him in bewilderment as he continued,”Or, perhaps you’d like your travel-sized first aid kit?” He pulled out the little box of bandages and such I typically carried around. My hands flew into my pockets, searching for my items, but my pockets were empty.

“What about all the tissues I had?”

Doro reached into the bag again and pulled out a handful, even a bloody one. I watched him put everything back into the bag with a nervous look,”How the hell did you do that?”

“I believe you started to ask why I’ve been saying I’m YOUR Ultimate Friend–which I am, of course,” Doro reassured before continuing,”And why I haven’t said I’m THE Ultimate Friend.”

Danger nodded, getting more and more confused.

“While I’m still your Ultimate Friend, I’m also the Ultimate Thief. Here! I have no use for these things!” Doro exclaimed, tossing the bag towards me. I caught it, but barely. As Doro turned to keep walking, the bag’s handles got caught on a nearby tree branch. I tugged at it lightly, accidentally knocking a squirrel out of the tree and right into the fire pit. I flinched and quickly turned away, unable to face the poor, burning squirrel. Thankfully, Doro didn’t seem to notice (or care, for that matter). He didn’t seem too concerned with my Ultimate, maybe he really is my Ultimate friend!
