Pencil Sharpener
You put your pencil into the sharpener and as you did, you felt a strange warm feeling in your hand. You started turning the pencil. As you turned your pencil the sharpener became even warmer, and you noticed that it even had a glow to it. What is going on? You turned your pencil even more, and as you turned, it was as if the world turned more quickly around you. Everything seemed like a blur because it was turning so fast. You became scared and stopped turning your pencil. The world stopped spinning as well.
To your surprise, you were no longer in the classroom, but in a city. The buildings were made of stone and bricks with smoke rising from the chimneys. No building seemed to be taller than three stories except for the church spire. The street was filled with people in strange clothes, many of them wearing hats. People wore coats in different colors and some even had white wigs on.
You noticed it was cold and there was even some snow in the streets, and you whished that you had a coat as well. A boy was standing in the street holding a newspaper and yelling. “British tea shipment to unload at the Boston Harbor today!”. A few people walked over to the boy and gave him some money in exchange for a newspaper.
You recognized the name Boston from class. Boston is a city in the USA. The cold wind carried a newspaper into your foot, and when you picked it up you saw near the top of the paper “December 16th, 1773”. You realized that you had travelled in time.
