Reservoir
"How did you know where to look?"
"I've never been here before, Rex. I just know we need to leave NOW." I say with panic in my voice.
"No problem." He says nonchalantly. "All we gotta do is put our stuff on, and get the fuck outta here."
He raises his head off the floor slightly. He licks his lips cleanly. Rex begins looking at my clothes. THe leans in and inhales the air near my collarbone, licking the exposed skin below.
I quickly shake my head at him. "Don't...don't... I'm trying to get away from this..."
I don't know what he's doing. I think I'm making it clear that I'm very uncomfortable with this place... at least I think I am...
"Relax, dude." He says. "You know you wanna stay here."
I laugh awkwardly. I try to talk louder, but all I can hear is the wild whirring of the psychedelic music. He lets out a guttural groan and falls forward, leaning his nose into the crevice between my shoulder and neck. His long tongue lolls out of his mouth, pushing up under my shirt and tickling my back, massaging along my ribs. I wince involuntarily. His wet mouth clasps down firmly around my left nipple. Rex then releases his grip from my shoulders and rests his head onto my chest, turning my body slightly so that my right nipple is now positioned directly beneath his muzzle. I stiffen involuntarily at the sensation. I push him off me as best as I can. His teeth scratch my collarbone gently as he retreats from my chest. I sit up straight.
"Please...we have to leave...now."
Rex tilts his head to the side. He looks at me oddly.
"Yeah? Why?"
I frown deeply. What kind of question is that to ask me? "Why? Are you blind? We HAVE to GET OUT OF HERE RIGHT THIS FUCKING SECOND!"
My heart starts racing violently as my mind works itself into a state of panicked, feral energy. Rex stares at me curiously, letting out a small noise in the back of his throat. My breath is heavy in my lungs. I feel dizzy and shaky, and very unsteady on my feet. As much as I wish I could understand him, I feel like if I tried, I would burst into flames or something equally tragic. Rex just sits there and watches me, unmoving. I take a deep breath, exhaling slowly. His face doesn't move at all, nor does his eyes.
"Do you not understand?!" I shout. "We have to leave! Now! RIGHT THIS FUCKING SECOND!!"
He jumps slightly at my outburst. He brings his face down to mine level. His dark brown eyes bore into mine intensely. They twinkle as they stare back at me.
"Sure thing." He says calmly.
I take his hand and walk towards the doors, we exit The Smoke Room and meet back with Jesse and Priyan in the bar. Priyan is having a conversation with Lawrence.
"Now I don't consider Lazarus' actions towards Bethany to be toxic. I think he's only looking out for her and trying to keep her from getting killed by the evil vampires." Lawrence rambles.
"I disagree. Yes, Lazarus is doing the right thing by keeping the evil vampires away from her, but he should really respect her own boundaries and respect her a bit more." Priyan debates with him.
Jesse is sitting at the bar with a glass of wine. He looks over at us.
"Come over here." He says.
We both make our way to Jesse. He seems happy to see us.
"We should be getting out of here, but Priyan here seems to have made a new friend." He says as he points towards him.
"Yeah, I don't care. I'm exhausted. Let's leave."
"We'll be out in a minute." Jesse smiles. "Just got to pay for our drinks first."
Not long later, we were out the door and heading back to the car. It was an uneventful trip back to the motel. We got back a quarter to one. We say goodnight to Priyan and he goes back to his room.
"Hey Utah, may I talk to you outside for a moment?" Rex asks me.
