You climb the ladder and make it to the outside, but suddenly a dragon appears in front of you and squishes you. You wake up and look around, it was a nightmare, nothing was real. You look at yourself and you're still a kobold (because you always were) but then you noice that you are flat, this may be temporary since nothing can be permanent
