Reservoir

"No thanks. I don't think I really need to learn something like that."

"Okay." Priyan shrugs and goes back to floating.

I start to do more laps around the lake. I hear a loud pop sound and look over at Priyan. He's on shore. The three of us are alone in the lake.

"What was that?" I ask "Maybe a firework?" Rex suggests

"I don't know, it could also be a gunshot..." I say I think I see a figure running away from the lake.

"Utah and I will investigate." Priyan tells Rex "You stay here."

Priyan and I get out of the water and head towards the figure. Priyan takes my hand as if he wants me to stay safe.

"Come on, let's go." I shrug and stay back.

The figure is about ten meters ahead of us, and he or she is running very fast. Priyan pulls up alongside the figure. I finally get a glimpse of what it is. It is not a person, but rather a monster. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. It looked like a gray and pink canvas structure, flapping as if it were in storm winds... but it has a face too. Ragged holes were torn deep into the fabric.

"Leave this town this instant!" Priyan yells confidently, as if he knew the thing's intentions.

The creature only growls in response, only flapping more aggressively.

"Is that so? Then in that case, I bind you to the desert, so you won't cause harm to anyone here!" Priyan curses, as he starts chanting a strange song up at it.

This seems to work, but just for a moment. The thing spit at me, knocking me to the ground. I let go of Priyan's hand and get back up to fend it off. This one moment just happened to be enough. I feel a sharp, stinging sensation in my foot... and then it's over... the thing had disappeared.

"Did it work?" I look over to Priyan

"Hopefully, we'd be in big trouble if it didn't..."

We head back to get Rex and go home. Rex and Priyan went back to the motel, and I went back to my house. I feel something inside my foot, as if something had burrowed into it. I don't panic though, I go to the bathroom, grab a pair of tweezers, and run my foot under hot water. After that, I use the tweezers to try and pull it out. I see the length of a worm come out of the hole it tunneled itself into.

"That wasn't part of the plan, was it? I think you've gone crazy..."

I get most of the worm out, but a small piece of it breaks off, and I can no longer get to it. I can't get it out, and I'll have to live with it. I can't stop thinking about it however.

"You're going to have to kill me. I've seen too much..."

Whatever the thing we saw today was, it had made it's way into Echo through the death of my boss.
