Forrest & Dawn
1
WELCOME, AGENT HUNTER.
PLEASE PROCEED TO CORRIDOR 1-X WHERE YOU WILL MEET WITH AN AGENT FOR INTERVIEWING PERSONNEL.
Dawn chorused with the whining of the door. She didn't get a lot of sleep at all last night. But when your boss is laid back enough to invite you to this birthday bash, you don't turn him down.
Both hands in her pockets, Dawn watches, almost on autopilot, the blurry maze of corridors and hallways through the door window - the architect should honestly be locked up in here, she once heard someone say - until she sees the familiar short dark brown hair and stubble of her co-worker and strictly good friend Forrest.
"Hey." Dawn smiles.
"Howdy." Forrest takes a sip of his coffee.
She snorts. "'Howdy'?"
"Just spicing up the greetings." He tosses his cup in the rubbish. "So, what's the whole itinerary today?"
Dawn looks down at her trusty clipboard. "Just got to do the usual wellness check. Routine stuff. See if they still like being held up in this place."
"And they don't even get paid." Forrest remarks.
Dawn murmurs something in agreement. "So, take the elevator or the stairs? Your choice today." 'Feeling charitable...' she mutters in her mind.
