Reservoir

I decide to stay with Priyan. He's much more reserved so the mood won't be as tense.

"Hey Priyan." I say following him to his motel room.

Priyan looks back, "What's up?"

"Do you think I can stay in here and talk with you?" I ask.

Priyan opens his door and nods. "That's cool. I don't know what we'll talk about though."

"What we saw on the side of the road of course."

"Yea, what was that." Priyan asks. I tell him everything. I tell him how I saw my boss and what happened to him. "Like, how could you forget that?"

I get a feeling Priyan was pretending to forget about the incident. It's subtle, but Priyan doesn't respond to trauma well. He is a reserved person. I don't know if he wants to talk about it or if he's just shocked.

"Well no use in driving back home.." Priyan said avoiding eye contact with me.

"Let's take a walk." I suggest, not wanting to start a conversation that might make him upset. I don't think I can handle a conversation right now.

We get up and walk to a nearby corner. We turn and begin to walk down the street. We walk for a few minutes before Priyan talks. "You know you can tell me anything." He says.

"But you don't listen man" I say, rolling my eyes. I tell him about everything that happened. I even tell him about some of my other dreams. "So what do you think about all of this?" I ask him. He thinks for a moment.

"I'm not sure what I think." He responds. "That whole part is a little weird." He says.

"Explain more."

Priyan looks down at his feet. "Sometimes I don't think I recognize my own face."

We both stop walking and turn to face each other. Priyan looks me dead in the eye. "Sometimes I don't recognize my legs." We continue walking. Priyan turns and looks down again.

I thought this was about me. Priyan somehow made the conversation all about him. I don't want to complain though. It would be rude. I then get a call from Jesse.

"Hey." I say as I picked up the phone.

"The cops will give us an update in the morning. Don't let Rex and Priyan leave yet. This week will continue."

I hang up on Jesse before he could say anything else. Priyan and I walk a little longer before Priyan suddenly stops.

"Hey." He says.

"Why are you so quiet?"

I'm not used to Priyan asking me questions like this.

"I um...I'm uh....my dad died."

What Priyan said suprised me. His parents lived in this town. If his dad died, I would've known.

"I'm sorry man." I say, putting a hand on his back.

"Don't worry." Priyan says "I'm going to be fine."

"Should we start heading back?" I ask him. He nods, and we begin to make our way back to his motel room.

"Hey, Utah?" Priyan asks "Do you want to walk along the lake with me tomorrow?"

"Sure." I say

We get back to Priyan's motel room and go to bed. I should probably rest before tomorrow.
