uh
Faster than you can make up some rumor about their drummer, they start their set. They have banks of strobe lights set up vertically on either side of the stage, and you spend a good portion of the first two songs trying to figure out how they get them to pulse with the double-bass.
The first half of the set is anti-climatic. They are defintly full of energy and you are amazed that the singer can growl and screech for five minutes but you can't help but feel a little let down; you can barely hear either of the guitars and overall they seem a little sloppy.
The second half of their set is a complete turn around. You guess this has to do with the fact that its mostly from their most recent release "Miss Machine" which seems to translate well in a live setting. Some of the guitar breaks are positively etheral and you find yourself coming around a bit to the whole cult of DEP. Still the drum fills seem a bit over the top, they are so complicated and varied that they are almost totally meaningless or indistinguishable. You shrug, and tell yourself this might be cool if you played drums.
When the set ends you find yourself in a Medieval Dungeon, with two wizards, Scorpion, and a minator, and you are seriously getting a sense of deja-vu. But wait, in the corner is Dillinger and the entire original cast of The Jeffersons. Eh, it could be worse.
