Everything Went Dark
The two doorways were like the previous ones: nothing fancy, cracked, and covered with vines and such. Evie chose to go right and Addie chose to go left. They didn't count to three, why? They just wanted to get it all over with. The two walked into the doorways at the same time. The pathways were dimly light by fading torches. Addie was grateful that her path had some light. It was lit by some dying torches. As she continued to walk down, Addie wasn't sure if she had hallucinated the sound or not, but she could have sworn that she heard the sound of sharp blades and spikes shooting out of the wall? Or maybe the floor? Just to be careful, Addie slowed her step and studied her surroundings much more carefully as she kept walking.
And finally, finally, she saw the sunlight seeping through the passage. Yes! Addie had made it out alive! Her path had been much, much shorter than she expected but that was okay! She was just glad to get out of this temple in one piece. Addie started to run towards the light. She didn't stop running until she had gotten completely out of the temple. Addie turned around to face the temple. Where was Evie? Addie saw an open exit that dropped into a pit of sharp things. Oh no. Addie must have heard correctly. Evie had probably fallen into the pit.
Unsure of what to do now, Addie started to walk towards the pit to see if Evie was actually in there or not. And then she heard someone call her name. Was that Jordan? So she had made it out! That's good. And Jennan too? Cool! Some of her friends were still alive. Addie turned back around and started to run deeper into the jungle towards her friends' voices. She was going to see them again.
