Everything Went Dark
What else did she have to do? Addie volunteered. She was led out to the courtyard like usual. To her, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. And nothing was really. She was allowed 15ish minutes to walk around. She only saw the occasional servant cleaning or whatever they do. She was led back as usual. When she had gotten back, she heard some yelling and thunks. That does happen occasionally. Addie didn't think anything of it. Then she heard a gunshot and all the yelling went silent. Addie looked at the guards who were escorting her, panicked. But they continued to walk as if nothing had happened. Addie didn't realize what room the gunshot came from until she had reentered her and Jordan's room.
Jordan had apparently tried to escape and attack one of the guards. It was clear who won based on who was lying dead and bleeding on the floor. "Viva la Neutral Grounds." The guard who fired the shot muttered. "The hell was she talking about?" They looked up when Addie entered. Addie stared at Jordan on the ground. She was naturally really shocked. "You'll already be in trouble for one. Just shoot the other." Another guard muttered. But Addie didn't process any of what was said. Her friend and co-revolution leader was dead in front of her.
"All we ever wanted was to live like they do in the Neutral Grounds." Addie said quietly. "And you will." A third guard said. Addie felt something cold being pressed against her head. "If you kill me, I'll never get to the Neutral Grounds." Addie said, still trying to process what was going on. She heard a click and saw white. Addie assumed it was from shock. She blinked a few times and everything was back to normal. "Addie! C'mon!" Jordan's voice said. Addie turned around. Jordan was standing in the doorway, motioning her to follow,"Jennan and Jack are already there! We don't want to be the last ones there!"
"Where?"
Jordan didn't respond and neither spoke for about an hour. When they had finally arrived to wherever Jordan decided to take Addie, Jordan responded.
"The Neutral Grounds!"
Addie smiled. They were free.

She blinked a few times and everything was back to normal. "Addie! C'mon!" Jordan's voice said. Addie turned around. Jordan was standing in the doorway, motioning her to follow,"Jennan and Jack are already there! We don't want to be the last ones there!"
"Where?"
Jordan didn't respond and neither spoke for about an hour. When they had finally arrived to wherever Jordan decided to take Addie, Jordan responded.
"The Neutral Grounds!"
Addie smiled. They were free.
