Everything Went Dark

Eh, why not? Jordan volunteered. She was led out to the courtyard like usual. To her, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. And nothing was really. She was allowed 15ish minutes to walk around. She only saw the occasional servant cleaning or whatever they do. She was led back as usual. However, as she was led down the hallway that led to her and Addie's prison room, Jordan was extremely confused. Some servants were carrying two cots out of the room. Jordan looked at one of the guards, a look of confusion etched on her face. She didn't get a response. Two more servants exited the room carrying a body covered with a white sheet. Was it Addie?! No...it couldn't be. Right? As Jordan was watching, she felt something cold get pressed against the back of her head.

"If you'll let me visit the Neutral Grounds once. Just once I'll come back and let you kill me."

Jordan was desperate just to get a glimpse of the lives of people who lived freely. But she only got a very unexpected answer.

"Of course. We'll send you there right away."

She heard a click and then everything went white. She must've gotten dizzy. Jordan shook her head slightly. When she looked up, she saw Addie. So she wasn't under the sheet! That was certainly a relief. "Come on. The Neutral Grounds are beautiful. We're all free." Addie said. Her voice sounded relaxed. She looked relaxed too. Was that why their cots were gone? Did the Four Horsemen determine them peaceful enough to let them go and stay in pure, blissful freedom.

Forgetting about the guards, Jordan followed Addie out of the castle. After an hour or so of walking, Jordan smiled. A genuine smile. She had finally made it.
