Everything Went Dark
Jack stumbled past the wooden sign. He was in the Neutral Grounds. The adrenaline was gone. Pain rocketed through his body and Jack realized that it wasn't just the barbed wire that he was injured by. He had been shot. When? Jack didn't know. All he knew was that he needed to get to that town in the distance for medical assistance. He was so tired. There wasn't a point in running. No one was chasing him. Jack fell to his knees. The view was glorious. The sun was setting. The silhouette of the small town up ahead looked perfect. The soft green grass and the flowers made the view seem heavenly. It was like a miracle. He didn't even notice that his pain was gone. He laid down in the soft grass, feeling pure bliss.
All was good.
All was good.
