The only way out is by murdering their fellow classmates. If one succeeds and gets away with the murder, everyone else is killed and the murderer gets to leave. If the murderer fails, then they get executed and the game continues. The entire game is run by a small animatronic bear named Monokuma. The students are given Monopads, which contain information about their fellow classmates, a map of the rooms, and clues and facts about the murder. Trials are hosted after the body is observed. The clues and description of the murder is kept on the Monopad for future reference. The trials are when people accuse and try to determine who the killer is."
