Adventure Awaits

This story starts when I was running from the cops down 53rd Street. I have gotten into this situation many times before, growing up an orphan never satisfied me. I was constantly bored up in Little Hamlet Orphanage, possibly because all the kids in there were miserable. This boring life of reading some poems and doing equations pushed me to seek thrills in my life. I started off doing small things like shooting all the other kids with paintball guns around the playground or doing parkour around the orphanage. Yet these actions were shut down quickly by the orphanage administrators. Because of this, I started to sneak out of this orphanage hell scape and into the city of Pittsburgh where my actual crimes started. I started stealing lots and lots of stuff, and kept getting away with it almost every time. The police for some reason let me off easy saying that if I ever get caught doing it again I'm gonna be sent to Juvie, which is supposedly worse than Little Hamlet. I told myself I wasn't going to do it again but while I was walking down the street I saw the coolest shirt ever. I couldn't resist. I walked into that store went over to the shirt, tucked it in my coat, and ran out the door. Unfortunately, this type of store had those sensors that detects unpaid items so I bet you know where this is going.

So there I was, sprinting away from those dang police officers who were getting really tired of chasing me. Unfortunately for them, I ran into a building and went down a flight of stairs, eventually going into an elevator. My heart was pounding like crazy, I was going to get caught, they saw my face and they would arrest me as soon as I get back to the orphanage. My mind then went into all these crazy scenarios that described a view of me running away from Pittsburgh and crossing the border into Canada. Yet, as I was thinking about this I noticed the elevator started to get darker. I was already freaking out and this did not help. The elevator was then pitch black inside to the point where I couldn't see a thing, only the illuminated floor buttons that were numbered 1-10. A piece of text then showed up above these buttons saying "Hello, please press one of the buttons that are numbered 1-10. You're adventure awaits!"
I was convinced that this was some sort of weird elevator so I pressed a random number just to get out quickly.
