The Curse of the Towne Motel

You grab a nearby pen and begin to lower the tip to the empty page. But just before it makes contact, a sudden flash of heat blazes in your hand, causing you to fling the pen across the room and recoil in pain. Nursing your injury you glance sullenly at the pen, now lying silently in the corner, charred and black. You look back at the book and notice it has closed itself.

Your hand is severely burned, it's already begun to swell. The pain is becoming unbearable.
