You remember how hard it was to purchase last time so you rush inside and head straight to the toilet paper aisle. There’s only one stack left! You grab it and turn to leave.
A firm shove from behind takes you by surprise and knocks you to the ground. You drop the toilet paper in the process.
You look up and see a young woman with a baby strapped to her chest. She doesn’t hesitate and snatches your stack of toilet paper. Still in shock you don’t follow her as she races down the aisle.
Moments later you pull yourself together and head to the canned food section. It’s empty. Not even a measly can of tuna remains. You circle the other aisles. There is almost nothing left.
You leave the supermarket disappointed and head to the gardening supply store.
They are also out of stock of the majority of their vegetable and fruit seeds. All that remains is a mango tree sapling that will take another 6 years to produce a single mango.
You have no supplies, so you drive to another shopping centre in the town nearby. The shelves there are also empty. You keep trying, driving further and further.
You get back into your car after your fourth unsuccessful trip and stare in horror at the bright red rash on your hands. You have been infected.
Hours later the monitor flat lines at the hospital, and your heart stops.
