You set out to find a mermaid. You start your journey with some advice from the benefactor: "Head to the coast and appear distressed. They will come."
The journey to the coast takes about a month and during that time you hear all manner of tale describing the prospects of mermaids. Some describe them as sirens who lure sailors to their death, while others trace their origin back to the gods of water. Perhaps this is too advanced for a man/woman of your caliber? Surely not.
The coastal area of this region is cold, windy, and gray. It gives off the personality of stale bread. Where does a mermaid even decide to live?
