The Events At Northwood City
You groan to yourself and close your front door begrudgingly. You suppose that you should explain to Mrs. Lythe or at least warn her about her plants.
"Hi Mrs. Lythe," you say. Her bright blue eyes widen for a moment before she calms herself and mumbles hello back. She seems to recognize that her flowers are toppling over with the overflowing water and she quickly stops drenching them, pulling the watering can back quickly. She sheepishly rubs the back of her neck as she realizes you're still looking at her and clears her throat.
"What were you doing up so late, dear? Couldn't sleep?" You nod, wondering why she's up so early too. She seems to read your face and gives a huff of a laugh. "My husband was making so much noise so I couldn't rest. I stayed up late doing whatever I could put my hands on. It's never too early to water plants, you know?" Typical Mrs. Lythe. Still, she seemed a bit out of sorts before.
Come to think of it, her hair seems to be grayer and her eyes have dark circles under her eyes, which contrasts greatly with her pale skin. Her hands seem dryer and you swear you can see some blood from how cracked they are. Her nails seem to be longer too, and traced with blood. She notices your eyes wandering and backs up to her door.
"I have to go now, dear. But take care of yourself," she announces and then promptly shuts the door in your face. You rub your eyes tiredly and yawn. Last night was eventful and you don't want to do anything but take a nice, long nap. However, realization hits you like a brick to the face. Your new boss, Mr. Yin, asked you to take an early shift starting at 6 AM, and according to your clock, it's 5. Your brain can't think properly as you charge your button on your waist.
