Just an Ordinary Day in the Life of an Ordinary Girl
You kneel beside the water and put your hand into the water. It's wonderfully cool. You can still see the glittering object and reach for it. But everytime you think you are able to touch it, it seems to go a little deeper. Finally, with a last effort, you stretch out your hand as far as you possibly can and then... you lose your balance. You scream as you see the water surface approaching fast, but the water soon deadens your voice. After a fraction of a second you manage to come up again and take a deep breath. You feel your clothes absorb the cold water and your long coat seems determined to pull you down again, but you quickly take it off. You're surprised not to feel the bottom of the lake. How could you then possibly have seen some sort of shiny object?
As you swim back to the water-side, a weight of some sort pulls your right foot. You grab the grass along the water-side with your left hand and reach for your foot with the other. Your fingers touch a leather string and grab it. You want to get out of the water before taking the time to have a look at it, so you quickly slide it into your dress for safe keepings and grab the side with both hands. But just that moment a strong arm pulls you out of the water and when you look up you are standing before a frowning Thomas.
"Amilynn, you're looking like a drowned cat. What is the matter with you?"
You are painfully aware of the fact that you're soaking wet and looking pretty pathetic right now. Your cheeks turn as red as your dripping hair. Here you are, finally reunited with your love. This is not exactly how you'd pictured this moment, the moment you've been waiting for for so long. Still, you feel happy now and say, "I'm sorry dear, I was walking through the garden and I fell into the water, but I'm so happy to see you." You hug him.
Thomas laughs and gently loosens your arms from his neck. "I missed you so much, darling, but how about we get you into some dry clothes and then you give me a big hug, huh? Let's go inside."
You quickly grab your shoes, which you had taken off before entering the grass, and let Thomas lead you back to the house. You then realize you left your coat in the water, but it probably sank to the bottom anyway, so you just have to accept the loss.
