The Unnaturals Prequel - Cataclysm
History and Backstory:
The year is 2237 on earth. You are a young person living in a major city in North America. By this time, the human race no longer appears as it once did. Before, the species had distinct physical appearances, from the color of their skin to different averages of height and build, etc. The separation continued even further, as people drew lines in the sand between themselves and others of their species regarding everything from the city or country they lived in, to what their personal beliefs were. The planet, the species, and even individuals suffered greatly from these divisions.
However, as time wore on, the earth became a much smaller place as advances in communication and travel brought distant people and places together. Over the years, the human race slowly began to realize that they had much more in common than they did in differences. They became one.
Decades passed and this intermingling began to have an effect on the species as each generation of humans began to evolve. The best genes of each individual ethnicity blended and created stronger children. Knowledge and wisdom that had jealously been protected by different cultures were finally shared, creating massive leaps forward in technology and quality of life. The human race truly became gods of the earth.
Now, in the year 2237, you are one of these advanced humans. You are between 6 and 7 feet tall. Your skin is a rich golden-bronze. Your eyes are any combination of brilliant colors. You are strong, fast, intelligent, and healthy as can be. Cancers and diseases have become far less prevalent in these later years and you cannot recall a single person you know who died from one.
The city you live in is called Haligonia. It is a large city, with massive skyscrapers and industrial complexes. It supports many surrounding suburbs and boasts a popuplation of over 100 million people. You live alone in an apartment complex near the center of the city.

You awake in your bed, sweating bullets despite the A.C fan blowing directly on you. You glance around the single room of your darkened apartment and see your kitchenette on one side and living room on the other, with the door to your small bathroom near the foot of the bed.
𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘢𝘮𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘢𝘭, you think as you wipe the sweat from your brow.
It is the middle of the hottest summer ever recorded on earth. You recall that scientists have exclaimed for nearly two centuries that the planet is warming at a fearful rate. You can certainly feel the proof of these claims but as one solitary person in a population of over 15 billion people, there is not much you can do about it. You begin to wonder at what point this rise in temperature will become inhospitable to human life.
𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦, you shrug. No point in worrying about it now. You have to head to work.
What is your job? (This will drastically effect your story.)
1. You are an industrial mechanic with an engineering degree. You prefer working with your hands and by yourself, figuring out problems and equations.
2. You are a medical professional at a nearby hospital. You enjoy working as a team and helping others.
