A Hero's Journey
You tell your mother that you want Illsa to teach you. Your mother tells you that this is a good decision, as Illsa can teach you how to grow and find food for yourself, as well as how to make good decisions about the food supply and health of the people when you govern them. This will serve you well as a warrior and a ruler. Your mother also hopes that Illsa's loving family can teach you about the goodness and joy that you must protect from evil.
Over the next few years, Illsa teaches you everything she knows. You become adept at finding food in the wilderness that surrounds the caves. And once you have proven yourself to be a good farmer, Illsa and her husband teach you how to cook. You enjoy this quite a bit, and soon find yourself cooking meals for your mother and Illsa's family. You become good friends with them. Especially Illsa's son Clay. You ask your old teacher to instruct him, so he can one day fight by your side.
