IG-2000 is required to unlock Han's Millennium Falcon, and it's great happenstance that it's bound to a node with a key character like Poggle. Han's Millennium Falcon is one of the best ships in the game, and transforms the Rebel fleet from decent to excellent immediately upon unlocking.
