First Day of School

Time to tell the student the rules. This is the way you have always conducted class. It works... if they listen. If they don't listen, you've come to realize that the school's "policy" has lowered the expectations and degraded some of the best parts of the school system's discipline plan.

The following rules are in your syllabus. Recite them with me:
1)No talking unless being talked to
2)No using electronics (if you can't find it in a book, it isn't worth knowing)
3)No standing up unless asked to do so by me and an administrator
4)No talking to the person next to you unless asked to do so
...
...
...
The rules carry on in a similar fashion to this.

In the front row, a student pipes up and says: "May I please use the restroom?"

Are you going to take that kind of sass from a student RIGHT after rule one was just recited??
