Strangely Forgotten

You pull the machete from the backpack pocket, its sharp blade making a high, SSHK. The monster's head whips straight towards you, and immediately pounces. You yell at Kai to run, and your instincts take over. You swing the blade at the monster's throat, but its skin is tougher than you realized and the knife glances harmlessly off, leaving you empty handed. The creature finishes you off quickly, and you can only hope that Kai will escape.

You were brave, but too quick to fight. Sometimes you need more brains than bronze.
