Time traveling through nuclear history

Your mini-Scout watch disguises you as a miner and the guards let you in, unknowing that you are in fact, not a miner. Once inside, you run tests on your mini-Scout to search for uranium. Scout makes a pickaxe materialize and you start mining, putting on your lead gloves. You grab a large sample of uranium, slot it into the carrying capsule, and leave. By the time you return to the time machine, Scout-standard-model has finished welding the machine. You insert the uranium capsule into the time machine and return back to your home time. You are greeted by your captain, and after explaining that your time machine broke down, understands that you were unable to complete your mission. However, you have also brought back valuable information about the new prototype models of your time machine and what the engineers need to improve upon.
