The Walk of life
A passerby, a homeless man pulls your body from the street back onto the sidewalk, next to your discarded and broken cane and cries over you!
"No! GOD! Don't take this child!" He cries.
He is old, unkempt, and he cries for me as the ambulance drives up. The blood from your head stains his shirt.
"Poor guy," You say. "Crying over someone he doesn't even know. And he is the only one who cares I died." You say. "Wish I could do something for him."
He allows the paramedics to get you onto a gurney and take you away. Your body will be cremated, and given to your mother-in-law as she was the closest of your family.
"Oh no. She's gonna be all alone now." You mutter.
The guy stands up and walks over and just stands next to your floating form.
"It's disheartening that no one here cares about you." The man says looking at you. "Look at them, they went back to their business as soon as the medics arrived. No one offering information, no one offering a hand."
