The Rescue Mission

Alice felt a little insulted. She was surely more useful than as a mere distraction. "Ami, I'm a fainn! I can teleport through walls, I can heal the most severe wounds, grow plants. I'm even working on throwing lightning! I should be the one to do the real work here."

Ami chuckled. "You really think you're the type to break and enter? I figured you'd be happy talking shampoos and oils with the airheads in the front of the salon for a while. And would you even know what to do, what to look for once you're back there? Do you know how to hack into a locked computer?"

Alice hesitated. "How hard could it be?"

Ami pinched the bridge of her nose. "Alice, we only get one shot here. If we're discovered, they'll know we're onto them and destroy any evidence that could help us find out what happened to Nina. And if they know how to subdue a creature like Nina, who knows what other magical defenses and traps might be there. I know what to look for. If you flash into that room blind, you could knock over a table, or set off some magical alert system. Better to do this more subtlety. You're powerful, but you've never broken in anywhere before in your life, much less stolen files or hunted down clues like this. I have."
