Seed of humanity

They wake up, it's still dark due to the difference of which the planet rotates. They turn on their flashlights and search for food to eat, they do have edible fungi to eat in the ejected landing probe, but they've been eating that for 6 years and they're sick of It. They use the malformed babies as a test subject and they feed them plants that look edible. They survived the first 4 plants and now they're moving on to animals. at the pond was a purple leg shaped things with eyes spotted all over it. They go up to it and stab it with a knife-tipped stick. It goes through its whole entire body and all kinds of foul smelling liquids came out of it, the voiceless screams of the mouthless monster scared a few small creatures away, byt they don't seem to hear it. They dice the eye-spotted leg animal and give it to one of the babies, it keenly eats a few cubed peices of "meat" before feeling dizzy and falling to the ground. 1 more "test subject" left. They give it small quantities of a less hideous creature, it has feathers and 4 legs, it is sliced up, the organs are removed from the skin. And to the clay oven it goes. The baby seems fine after eating it. So they settle with the 4 plants and 1 animal.
