Time Traveler

The Turk initially refuses the offer. He knows that a merchant's first offer is never the highest he will bid. He would have accepted the offer if the bargaining had begun at a lower price, but now he knows the merchant will pay more. After extended bargaining they settle on 32 guineas each for twenty Persian rugs. The merchant feels he could have gotten a better price, but he can make a profit with these and they are the best quality so they will sell fast. He gives me ten guineas as a reward. Now I can tour London before moving on.
