My Rich Neighbor

"So do you play an instrument," you ask her after she asked you to take her to the band room. She nods.

"I play flute but I haven't played in a while because my old school had a horrible band program and all. But I was thinking of taking it back up," Amber answers. You nod.

"I tried to learn an instrument, it's too bad I'm tone deaf," you joke. She laughs out loud and you laugh with her too. You both walk into a large room with high ceilings. The chairs are set up in a half-circle around the podium in the front of the room. The room is neat and tidy. She looks at the trophies and awards that line the wall. You watch her look around the room. She looks fascinated and it makes you feel grateful that you have all of this when it's obvious that this is all new to her.

"What do you think?" you ask. She looks up at you like she just remembered that you were there.

"It's amazing!" she says smiling. She stands at the podium and pretend to conduct. You laugh. You guys stayed in there for a while longer.

At the end of the day you both parted ways. You both stuck together for the whole day. Amber is so easy to talk and you genuinely want to get to know her better.
