Iron: Fe(II) is greenish in solution. Its presence can be confirmed by the addition of potassium ferricyanide which will produce a brilliant blue precipitate. Fe(III) is yellow in solution. Its presence can be confirmed by the addition of potassium thiocyanate which will turn the iron solution a deep red color.
