You decline the mans offer and you can hear him sigh behind his rags. "All right then," he says "good luck."
You try and fight your case but without a lawyer there isn't much you can do and the judge orders that you'll keep your life sentence, plus five years. The entire courtroom seems confused by this, but the judge explains that they'll simply keep your dead body in your cell for five years after you die before disposing of it. The prison warden claims that this would probably just make the place smell and waste a perfectly good cell, but the judge dismisses this.
