The fellowship decides to follow the path through the Mines of Moria. They must fight their way through orcs, but that proves to be least of their problems. Indeed, the dwarves dug too deep in Moria and awakened the Balrog. Gandalf manages to hold it off as the fellowship exits Moria, but he perishes in the process.
