Erinyes Game
You, Aphrodite, and Hephaestus follow your plan and point at Apollo. Artemis and Apollo point at Aphrodite. Hera points at Artemis.
The majority rules, and Apollo clutches at his metal choker.
Artemis covers her mouth, speaking through trembling fingers. “Apollo, I’m so sorry, I couldn’t…”
He shakes his head. “It’s n-not your fault…it was going to happen eventually…try to live well…”
The metal choker glows orange, blinding light filling the room. Suddenly, it explodes, leaving Apollo’s neck a headless stump.
Tears stream down Artemis’s cheeks as she mourns her brother’s loss. Hephaestus goes to her side to help her.
“Not to be harsh,” he says, “but was he really a Fury?”
With a shudder, she nods. “I-I’m so sorry, everyone. I just didn’t want my brother to die, that’s all. Please try to understand.”
Aphrodite is holding back tears, clearly trying not to burst into loud sobs. “I understand, Artemis. I’m sorry, too.”
As you head back up to your room, you wonder if you can trust any of Artemis’s verdicts.
That night, your dreams are tinted orange. The sunset, though pretty, blinds you so much you can hardly see the moon when it rises.
