Erinyes Game

Eight Olympians gather around the table. The first seat, Zeus’s, is the only new empty spot. It’s a relief for only a moment, as you begin judgement.

“Good evening Olympians! Let’s have a nice chat again tonight,” says Hades.

“I’ll make my confession now,” Artemis begins. “I am the Oracle, the one with the ability to see any Olympian’s status. I can only see one per day. Today is the fourth day, and I have seen four of you.”

“If that’s true, then who did you look at?” Asks Hephaestus.

“Hestia is an Olympian,” she announces first. You suppress a small smile, knowing that hopefully now no one would try to execute you. “Aphrodite is an Olympian.” The woman in question beams. “Apollo is an Olympian.” He and Hermes exchange a nod. “Athena…”

“Yes?” She asks innocently.

“Athena is a Fury.”

“What?” Athena’s stormy grey eyes flash. “I am not! I’m an Olympian. I don’t know where you got said information from.”

“Hades,” says Artemis as calmly as she can. “I don’t think Hades would lie to me, Athena. I’m sorry.”

Athena groans, turning to the rest of us. “Do you all really believe her?”

None of you can say a word. Regretfully, you meet her eyes for just a second before looking away.

“Hang on. Hang on! I swear I’m not a Fury! Hades must have been wrong!” Cries Athena. “Why won’t any of you listen to me?”

“Time to vote,” says Hades. “Please point to the guilty one among you. And…begin.”
