Fortunately, Addi answered on the second ring.
"Heeeya!" I could hear the smile in her voice through the phone and it made me relieved. I'd been worried I'd be bugging her. After all, she didn't seem like the school dance type.
"Hi! Hey, quick question. Are you going to the dance tonight?"
I held my breath for her answer.
She hesitated and sounded apologetic when she said, "Actually, I've got some rather urgent stuff to deal with. Next time?"
So it looked like that option was out.
But just before we were about to hang up, she said, "Wait!" And then, "You're needing a ride?"
