The Fairground
[RIDE "THE SPINNING MONKEY" WHEEL RIDE]
I stepped on a wasted funnel cake that was laying on the ground and my shoe laces got sticky from touching it. I kneeled down, tied my shoes, and glanced around at the crowds incase I could find if Eric was close by. I walked over to one of the amusement park rides called, "The Spinning Monkey." which was in the shape of an egg, with a giant wheel in the middle of four seats.
The waiting line wasn't very long. There were only 3 other people there; a little boy, his mother, and his father. The little boy asked me if I would like to join him and his parents on the ride. I thought it was adorable, and asked his parents if that would be fine with them to which they smiled, and told me it was okay.
My stomach churned slightly, but I ignored it, smiled back, and sat down in one of the four seats with this lovely, happy looking family at the fair. We all placed our hands on the wheel in the center. The little boy leaned back his head, and roared, "SPIN! SPIN!! SPIN!!!" and we spun as fast as we could, while the parents laughed.
The father winded his disposable camera, and took snapshots of his son having a blast. The mother smiled, and looked distracted by something, but overall, she seemed to be enjoying the ride. I was laughing with the little boy, but then I felt my smile soon fade away.
My stomach churned once again, but this time I started to feel nausea. The ride kept spinning faster gradually and every spin from the wheel made it worse. As I gazed out into the crowds, and everything kept spinning at a faster rate, spinning faster, and faster, and faster until it was a blur to me. My excitement had disappeared and I felt the chili dog, and nachos I had earlier start to come up from my throat.
The mother looked at me, and into my eyes. She stopped smiling, her eyes widened, and I started to feel under the impression that she already knew I was actually going to throw up. The little boy kept was now screaming at the top of his tiny lungs, "FASTER! FASTER!! FASTER!!!!!" while his father giggled, winding his camera more, smirking hard and admiring his son who was absolutely unaware of just how sick I was beginning to feel.
I kept staring out into the crowds of people and noticed a familiar face. It was Eric! He was standing there watching me spin on "The Spinning Monkey". He was smiling, his arms crossed, standing next to the barricade by the waiting line. I pointed at him and said, "Hey, there's my friend---" but before I could finish what I was saying the chili dog, mozzarella cheese, and slurpee had all sprayed out from my mouth and onto the clothes and faces of the little boy, and his parents.
The wheel then began to slow down it’s spinning. The mother closed her eyes. The father dropped his camera, and vomited, too, onto his pants. And the little boy immediately started crying and shrieked for his parents to help him. I closed my eyes in hesitation...before i decided what I was going to do.
