Keep your eye on it!
You decide to call the cops. You don’t know what is happening, but you are sure about what you saw. You know that it was your dad that was in your house last night, and you are suspicious that he may be responsible for your mom’s death. Although it was terrible to think about, you knew that you had to find out. You decided that the best way to do this was by going to the cops. You dial 911 and a man picks up. He asks you what you are calling about, and you spend the next 5 to 10 minutes telling him everything that happened last night. The man is patient, but when you mentioned that the man that came to your house was your dad, the man gave a noise to suggest that he had an idea as to what was happening. After hearing the entire story, he told you that he would send a couple of people to your house to explain what was happening. The way he said it suggested that he knew exactly what was going on. You hang up and wait still and silent in your room for about an hour, not knowing what to do. When the doorbell finally rings, you are ready for it. You jump up off of the same bed that you hid under last night, run down the hallway your father walked down, and open the door your father knocked on. That’s the only way you can think of these things now. Outside are two officers dressed in their uniform, which is a blue jacket and black pants. They each had a badge in the upper right corner of their shirts, and a walkie-talkie hanging from the belts they wore. One was tall and skinny, while the other was short and built. “May we come in?” asked the tall one.
“Actually,” you respond, “Can we talk outside? I don’t want my dad to listen to us.”
“Of course,” the tall one replies. He holds out his hands in a gesture that suggest she should come outside.
“So what happened to you last night happened to alot of kids,” began the short one. “Not the same exact details, like the mask and the yellow eyes, but something similar.”
“We have already gotten around thirty reports from kids about their mom dying, their dad coming home in some sort of costume, leaving, and then not remembering coming home at all. A lot of the reporters did not identify the person in the costume, but all of the ones that were identified were the kid’s dad, so we assumed that all of them were,” the tall one continued. “So far none of the dads have recalled anything from the previous night except that their wives died. Even though your dad is probably harmless we have to take him in, just to be safe. We don’t know what is happening. We are as confused as you.”
You are pretty sure that they are not nearly as confused as you. You have absolutely no idea what is happening. How is it possible that something as crazy as what happened to you happened to so many others on the same night? You decided to allow the cops to take your dad for now. The mystery as to how that happened was one for another time and another place. For now, you just had to get through the day.
When you went inside to get your dad and lead him to the station, he seemed lost. He clearly had no recollection of the events of the previous night. If he only remembered that his wife died, that would explain his current state. He docilely got up and followed the officers to their car. The officers drove away with your dad, and that was the end to your crazy night. You planned on finding out more details as to what happened and why, but for now you were done.
