The Lonesome Adventurer

Thinking that the rattling was probably just a branch from your neighbors annoyingly massive oak swaying in the wind but not wanting to take any chances you decide to lock all of your doors and windows quietly. Creeping to your kitchen window you latch it, and the next one. Then you get to your back porch door, it’s wide open, a slight chilly wind coming from the opening. “Funny,” you thought, “I was sure I closed it after I grilled those steaks last night.” You close and lock the door, then sit down on the couch and turn the TV back on. The newscaster is still droning on about the break-ins, so you start scrolling through the channels for something that will take your mind off that and let you relax. The Office comes on right at the start of the theme song, then about halfway into it you feel a chill run up your spine. You turn around and see a dark figure looming behind you, you start to scream, but the figure then puts a gag in your mouth and covers your eyes, and the last thing you hear is the slow descent of cords as the once iconic theme song comes to an end.
