The Evergreen Deer
Looking out the window, you stare out into the lush, green, evergreen forest. You see the prickly leaves, you hear the birds chirping, and you feel your dog's fur. Your life is as normal as it can be.
When you open the door, the fresh air rushes into you. You step onto the pathway that leads into the forest. You have never been in the forest.
Your father had forbid it.
The pathway was mostly covered in dirt. But your father was gone. You are alone in this tiny neighborhood. Everybody had moved out. Taking a few more cautious steps, you get to the edge of the forest. The tree leaves had grown above the path. Squinting into the dimly lit evergreens, you push away some leaves. Turns out that only the entrance was blocked. You look back at your small wooden house. Today you will conquer your father's orders.
You walk into the forest.
