Outlander

"Any thoughts," the Horsemaster asks you.
"I think we might need the extra soldiers."
"Then get them."
With the responsibility of your people's safety in your hands, you begin to sweat. What if you cannot convince them to allow you in? What if they will not help you? then you think of Lucia and what you would do to protect her. This gives you courage, as well as the words that you need to say.
"We need you," you call out. "What you were, at least. The Raptors were once the elite warriors and protectors of Hakin. It was you and your men who were trusted by the king to stand between our enemies and the people that made up Hakin. That was twenty-five years ago. Now the nations are dissolved. Logra, Maefia, Elfan all claim independence. Even these people were once members of Hoofdown, but the city is in flames. Goblins overrun it like flies on rotten meat. There are no longer any horsemasters because Hoofdown does not exist. These people are the people of Hakin. So you need to decide: will you take your oaths again? Will you stand for the people of Hakin and protect them from being extinguished by this outside threat? Or are the Raptors dead, like the king they once followed?"
For a long while the soldier stands quietly on the wall, then he walks away. You wait, and begin to give up, when the gates of Hakin open up to you. The soldier from the wall walks out.
"What is your name, Outlander?"
"Nathan."
"My name is Captain Graff. Never before has anyone spoken that way to me. I am old enough to remember what it actually means to be a Raptor, so my men will stand beside you."
"Thank you-"
"There is more," he interrupts. "We were about to abandon this city. I just received scout reports that goblins are headed this way in great force. They are excellent climbers and can scale even these walls. I don't know that we can defend the city."
Merida begins to despair, and the Horsemaster dons his most stony expression.
You try to counter Graff, "But Captain, there is nowhere else-"
"We don't need to run," you hear Lucia pipe up from behind you. She is on Cyoa, flipping through your spell book, and when she looks up she turns the page to show you.
"I think we can make the walls defense-able."
