Out of Time

You stand there, panicked. What your brain thinks you should do and what you want to do are two different things. Your stomach has turned to jello. The life you once knew is gone, maybe even forever. You wheeze with anxiety, trying to desperately to think of a way out. Your mind reminds you that there is no way out. Dean is a murderer. Before you can fully register what's about to happen, the adrenaline kicks in and you're off.

It can be said that during certain moments, your body moves in slow motion. This is one of those times. The movement, it's instantaneous. Your arms push Natalie out of the way. She falls into the grass beside the road, shocked. She turns back towards you and says something, but it's completely inaudible. Your eyes meet for a few seconds, hers saying "I'm sorry" and yours saying "Don't be."

Dean's truck finally comes, ramming into you. You fly for the first time, as the hood of the car throws you up and over it. You land peacefully on the ground as old memories flash through your mind. The agony your body feels from the hit is so intense that you don't feel anything at all. You hear Natalie scream, the only sound you've heard in a few minutes. She approaches your body and tries to talk to you, but once again, the sound has disappeared. Your mind tells you that this is death, that this is the end. At least you went out fighting. Your eyes snap shut, closing you like a book, and the sounds of the memory disappear.
