Vendetta

"Well, I think I'll start. I'm Emery," I said, breaking the tension between the two.

"Thank you," Professor Quartzworth muttered under his breath. "At least one of them aren't so stubborn and prideful."

I almost beamed with pride. I almost never get compliments.

"Now, please introduce yourself."

The girl's posture was lazy and slouched. It clearly told me she had this edge around her, like she was untouchable. Considering what she said before, it was also clear she was powerful and a huge asset to the government.

Clearly I had hit the jackpot.

"Fine," she groaned. "Call me Seven, that's all you're getting."

"Seven?" I questioned. I never heard of the name before. Then again, only insane parents or caregivers would name their children after numbers.

"What? Are you going to tell me now you're deaf? More to add on to my why you're weak list ?" She got up from her seat, twirled around on her heel and headed towards the door.

"Seven," Professor Quartzworth called out.

"Shut up old man," she snapped, opening the door with one hand while the other was shoved in her jacket pocket. "And you, I'll make your life miserable," then she slammed the door behind her.

"That girl," he muttered, pinching his nose.
