The Haunting of Lake Side Cemetery
Moving quickly you basically run towards the caretakers house. As you approach the house it looks much more normal than you anticipated. It's small, blue stone and has over grown flower beds all around, tiny red roses blooming. The windows are intact but dirty and while you're pretty sure it's all one floor there does seem to be an attic. The air outside is getting a little chilly, but it's still day light, just late afternoon.
You really should have done base camp first, always good to have a "safe" place to retreat to. You make your way onto the porch. The front door is white wood and the paint is chipping. There's a window next to it, it's filthy. Using your sleeve to clean the glass you peer into the front room. It's a large room with several pieces of furniture that look pretty good for being abandoned. There's an open book on the coffee table and a blanket folded on the couch. An entertainment center with a box tv also holds over a dozen books and knickknacks. So the locals were right, the people who lived here all left without taking any of their things.
"Looks cozy," you say. Just as the words leave your mouth you hear a very audible foot step from above you. A noise from the attic, a frightening horror movie sound that wouldn't normally bother you....much. After the ghost child your thoughts run away with you, however. While before you might have considered a homeless crazy squatter- now your mind goes to a much creepier place and thoughts of specters and ghouls fill your brain.
However this still isn't as scary as some of the other places you've been and it's either go inside this house or go home.
