You lie there half - asleep again. Until you realize it was a knock at the door that woke you up. You open it up and it’s the Police Captain standing there.

JACK GRINDER: Kasey… it’s James. He was found dead in his apartment late last night. His neighbor reported he heard six gunshots.

KASEY (YOU): No… it can’t be. Oh my God.

JACK GRINDER: It looks like this case may be more than you both thought. Would you like me to get some other detectives to cover it?

KASEY (YOU): No… what I want is you to get me his neighbor.

*You are sitting with James’ neighbor”

KASEY (YOU): Hi there. My name is Kasey Rayle. I’m aware you heard the gunshots last night?

RYAN HOWARD: Yes…

KASEY (YOU): Did you hear anything else?

RYAN HOWARD: Yeah… he knew whoever it was that shot him. If I remember right, he said “What are you doing here so late?”

KASEY (YOU): Did the man say anything else?

RYAN HOWARD: No that was all. The shooter didn’t even talk. He just shot him.

KASEY (YOU): Thank you for your time.

You walk out of Mr. Howard’s home. You notice James’ house is filled with CSI. You walk in to see if they found anything. They see you coming, say nothing, and show you security footage.

(VIDEO FOOTAGE DESCRIPTION) James hears his front door open. He opens his nightstand drawer, and pulls out his gun. A man in a black hood walks in, and James is quick to aim. Out of instinct, he points his gun at the man. “God, you scared me man. What are you doing here so late?” No reply. The man in the black hood shoots him six times in the head.

KASEY (YOU): I don't understand. He wouldn't have hesitated. He didn't just know who this guy was… he trusted him.

*Back home*

You walk around trying to figure out what happened last night. James is always able to hold his own. He trusted whoever it was that shot him. But James always had trust issues. You're the only person he ever trusted. Unless he was involved. Involved with the murder of Mark Haub.
